A Deeper Look into the True Meaning of CSR

 

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a term that describes a corporation’s actions and initiatives to assess and take responsibility for its effects on environmental and social well-being. Although CSR is not a new concept, it is one that has gained more importance with businesses and consumers in recent years. CSR keeps companies accountable for corporate actions and can help encourage positive impacts on the environment and stakeholders including consumers, employees, investors and communities. Although many corporations have differing opinions, the communications industry recognizes two main perspectives: shareholder theory and stakeholder theory.

 

The following research paper analyzes these two theories, identifies my viewpoint of CSR and provides further explanation backing up my outlook on this subject.
